The Electronium was the working title of a project I have since abandoned. This was an attempt to construct an electronic instrument that looks, functions and sounds like the Indian Harmonium, but solves a problem specific to its use in Hindustani Khayal Music – that of natural tuning (gandhaar tuning) to any pitch instantaneously.
I took the project to prototype level but had to abandon it eventually because I was unable to find engineers to work with me to take it to production level. The PDF and the demonstration video below should be enough of an introduction to the idea and the progress made – here’s hoping someone will take this up and take it forward!
