Hindustani Khayal music
What I Do
I’m a Hindustani Khayal vocalist, teacher and scholar. I’ve studied music with my father Pt. Satyasheel Deshpande and I perform and teach music out of Fremont, California. I have a PhD in musicology and am currently writing a major biography of the iconic Pt. Kumar Gandharva with the support of a fellowship from the New India Foundation.
Concert Review in the Hindu
‘Srijan hit the bull’s eye right from his first Swar-Lagaaw of his introductory alap and rendered the slow composition set to jhumra tala, with systematic alap-badhat, bol-alap, boltana and aakar taans.’

Student Feedback
‘Srijan is a highly knowledgable, very humble and passionate teacher. He focuses on making the experience enjoyable and yet provides insightful improvements to your singing in addition to the typical theory lessons that are part of the process’
